How to keep your GWO certifications current during COVID-19

Training during the lock down

Is your country currently in lock down and you cannot travel to refresh your BST certificate? Is your BST certificate about to expire and you are not sure yet when you are able to work again?

GWO wants to help and guide the wind industry during these exceptional times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Around the world, more than 1000 wind technicians every week see their BST certificate expire and in the recent weeks, refresher courses have been cancelled in up to 80% of the GWO network.

For these reasons, GWO released a new standard, the Basic Safety Training Online Partial Refresher (BSTR-P) as an INTERIM solution.

The BSTR-P will allow you to follow virtual online classrooms together with practical exercises. While respecting social distancing and keeping you safe from crowded spaces, the BSTR-P course will let you refresh your skills and give you six more months of validity on the BST.

The new standard is a way make sure you don’t suffer the skills fade which can affect us all when we don’t use this knowledge every day, potentially putting you at greater risk of injury in the workplace.

What should you do?

Contact your GWO Training provider and ask them for about the BSTR-P. Remember: as an online tool you don’t have to train close to home and everything can be done in a virtual classroom environment.

Make sure to stay updated to the latest GWO news and let’s work together to make an injury free working environment in the wind energy industry.
