Alongside updates on GWO's latest initiatives, this year's GWO Safety & Training Forum will feature a series of community-led sessions, offering delegates the opportunity to hear directly from the training providers and professionals helping shape the future of safety and training.

Selected from abstracts submitted by the GWO training network, these sessions showcase practical experience, innovative thinking and real-world approaches to some of the industry's biggest challenges. From exploring how artificial intelligence can support learning, to strengthening workforce capability, attracting new talent and maintaining training quality as the industry grows, each session is designed to spark discussion and encourage the sharing of ideas across the network.

AI in Safety Training: Supporting Better Learning Without Losing the Human Element

Emma Minett from RelyOn USA, Mexico & Caribbean will explore how artificial intelligence can support learning without replacing the practical experience and instructor expertise that remain fundamental to safety-critical training.

The session will examine where AI can add value—from personalised learning and targeted feedback to helping instructors identify knowledge gaps—while also addressing the limitations and risks of applying AI in high-risk industries. Attendees can expect a balanced discussion on how emerging technologies can improve learning outcomes while keeping humans at the centre of training.

From Training Delivery to Workforce Performance: The Next Evolution of Workforce Development in Wind

Joining us from Safety Technology USA, Ben Dickens will challenge delegates to think beyond training delivery and consider how organisations measure workforce capability and operational readiness.

As the wind industry grows, new challenges continually emerge including what competence looks like, where operational capability gaps emerge and how training can translate into measurable workforce readiness and performance. Approaching the issue form a Training Provider perspective, this session will explore how structured assessments, competency frameworks and workforce intelligence can help move the industry from compliance-focused training towards measurable workforce performance.

New Pathways for Training Centres: Reaching New Wind Technicians

Scott Wang from MTIC by MIRDC will take a deep dive into how training centres can play a more active role in addressing workforce shortages by developing new talent, rather than relying solely on the existing technician workforce.

Drawing on MTIC's experience in Taiwan, the session will explore programmes designed to attract newcomers from other industries into renewable energy through tailored training, industry engagement and job placement support. Delegates will gain practical insights into how training providers can help grow the industry's talent pool while strengthening their own long-term sustainability.

Raising the Bar: Developing Competent Technicians for a Growing Wind Industry

Claire Wright of Wright Training will lead a discussion on the role of instructor competence in developing the next generation of wind technicians.

Drawing on her experience as an IQTT Instructor within GWO's Instructor Qualification framework, Claire will explore how collaboration between training providers, industry and education can help maintain high standards as the global workforce expands. The session will consider how the industry can continue to grow without compromising the quality, consistency and safety of training delivery.
