Solar Training Committee

One of the world’s largest renewable energy employers, the solar PV industry must grow rapidly to meet 2030 climate target, demanding a massive scale-up of skilled and job-ready technicians. Historically, the solar industry has, however, lacked a unified global training framework, leading to inconsistent quality, safety risks and duplication of training across regions.

Through their collaboration, Global Solar Council and GWO have launched the Solar Training Standards. The Solar Training Committee is the working group through which leading solar members identify the industry challenges and needs for safety training and workforce development.

The committee works to:

  • Review, maintain and update existing GWO solar training standards to ensure accuracy and validity
  • Drive the development and implementation of the GWO solar training standards and frameworks
  • Support the GWO Secretariat in its responsibility to deliver on the Solar Training Product Strategy as approved by GWO Board
  • Approve the content of new and revised standards prior to release
  • Support the GWO Secretariat in their responsibility for training quality assurance

If you have a question or suggestion relating to a current GWO solar training standard or suggestions for further standards, please write to info@globalwindsafety.org.
