Representatives from the GWO team travelled to Skive in Denmark to conduct the first pilot of the High Voltage T-Connector Installation module, part of the GWO High Voltage Standard.

GWO recently completed the first pilot of the High Voltage T-Connector Installation module at Skive College, Denmark, the latest module in development as part of the GWO High Voltage Standard. The first of a series of planned pilots, these two days gave participants the opportunity to take part in training activities and share their feedback on the draft standard with expert industry observers.
Following the release of the GWO High Voltage Standard in 2025, which includes learning content for the safe operation of High Voltage equipment and systems, as well as for effective High Voltage Cable Pulling operations during pre-installation, construction, and service phases of wind projects, the training material for the High Voltage T-Connector Installation module will form a third module in the existing standard.
Completing plug & play T-Connector installation is an important part of High Voltage work, with T-Connectors functioning as a critical component connecting High Voltage equipment to power transmission lines. As such, this aspect of High Voltage work requires technicians to learn the skills to complete this installation task with the highest care and attention to maintain the safety and quality of High Voltage connections.
The pilot at Skive College were therefore a first step in ensuring that participants could gain understanding, practical skills, and hands-on experience of the procedures relating to the safe handling, inspection, and connection of High Voltage T-Connectors.
As part of the iterative feedback process of designing and testing learning material for the release of new GWO Standards modules, the pilots involved a range of stakeholders, including participants from Siemens, FairWind, and DelPro. Siemens Energy supported the pilot with an expert industry observer, providing the perspective from Siemens’ Global Training Excellence department and as a member of the GWO High Voltage Standard working group.
Reflecting on the pilot, Thomas Redmond, Training Project Manager at GWO, said:
Thanks to the generous support and representation from a range of GWO members, as well as the expertise in course delivery from our hosts at Skive College, this pilot provided valuable learnings to improve the draft High Voltage T-Connector Installation module with minor adjustments. As GWO expands the portfolio of technical training pathways aligned with industry need, getting feedback on this new module is an essential part of ensuring the content facilitates the learning transfer required for specialised High Voltage roles in the workforce.
Further pilot testing of the High Voltage T-Connector and the High Voltage Transformer Maintenance modules will continue through the summer to prepare for publication later in 2026 when the new modules become available for use in training centres.
