GWO Welcomes Dennis Elsberg as Chair of the Global Solar Committee

Dennis Elsberg, VP at RES, brings more than a decade of global HSQE expertise to the Global Solar Committee. The announcement of Elsberg formally launches the Global Solar Committee. The Global Solar Committee is the result of a partnership between Global Solar Council (GSC) and GWO, who jointly launched the Global Solar Training Standards in July.

Dennis T. Elsberg, Vice President of HSQE and Competence Management Global Services at RES, has been appointed Chair of the newly formed Global Solar Committee. This role follows his joining the GWO General Assembly as Board Member earlier this year. With extensive experience in HSQE and global competence management across utility-scale renewables, Dennis will bring his expertise to leading the Committee and shaping GWO and GSC’s joint initiatives as they drive standardisation in the solar sector.

Reflecting on his appointment as Chair of the Global Solar Committee, Elsberg remarked:

I am honoured to take on the role of Chair of the Global Solar Committee. This is an important milestone for the solar sector, bringing together GSC, GWO and industry leaders to create truly global standards. At RES, we believe people are at the centre of delivering clean energy safely, and these new standards will help ensure solar workers worldwide are not only protected but also empowered with the skills to succeed. I look forward to working with stakeholders across the industry to accelerate adoption and build a safer, stronger and more skilled solar workforce.

Jakob Lau Holst, CEO of GWO, added:

I am proud to welcome Dennis Elsberg, and through his appointment as Chair, launch the Global Solar Committee. Starting from the initial dialogue between GWO and GSC, through the launch of the Global Solar Training Standards, and to today’s formalisation of the Solar Committee and its highly experienced Chair, we are excited to continue our development of standardisation tools and products for the renewables industry. With well over a decade of experience in Renewables, Dennis is committed to aligning industry training with evolving safety needs, supporting GWO’s mission to standardise and improve workforce competence worldwide. We look forward to further developing our existing relationship with Dennis since he began working with us in a previous role as SGRE’s representative to the AGM, before joining the GWO Board on behalf of RES in 2025.
