The Annual Report 2025, 'Skills at Scale for the Energy Transition', reflects on the progress made in the GWO community towards solving the energy workforce challenge through standardised training across the wind and solar industries.
The Annual Report for the calendar year 2025 explores how key initiatives from the Workforce '26 strategy are supporting standardised workforce training for the energy transition, with solar workforce training featuring alongside wind for the first time.
With 2,018,000 skilled wind and solar technicians needed to construct, install, operate and maintain the energy transition, a clear challenge lies ahead. This workforce challenge requires stronger collaboration across the industry to secure a pipeline of qualified technicians to meet demand.
This year’s report highlights how GWO’s portfolio of training pathways respond to the workforce challenge. From Jobs4RE and Job Roles to ABEEólica and REcognition, each initiative brings national and international regulatory frameworks into closer alignment with standardised workforce training.
Other significant highlights of the Annual Report 2025 include:
• 15.2% increase in the total number of Course Participants trained, reaching 140,544 in 2025;
• 13.5% increase in the total number of Training Modules delivered, reaching 603,575 modules delivered in 2025;
• Continuous increase in Modules per Participant, with Course Participants holding 6.16 GWO training records on average by the end of 2025;
• Training Provider community expanded to 636 Training Providers by the year’s end, including 21 delivering solar training standards.
