Corio joins GWO to promote best practice in offshore safety training

• Global specialist offshore wind business Corio Generation joins as leading member • Corio's growing global windfarm portfolio will increase demand for standardised training

PRESS RELEASE – 31 January 2023, Copenhagen

Global Wind Organisation, the not-for-profit training body representing wind power owners, operators and manufacturers, has welcomed Corio Generation as a leading member.

Corio was created as a global offshore wind business by Macquarie’s Green Investment Group in 2022 and has a 20+ GW project portfolio across Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Americas.

Jakob Lau Holst CEO of the Global Wind Organisation commented:

“Corio is a unique organisation whose pipeline of projects across three continents brings a new dimension to our stakeholder group.  We look forward to collaborating with them to help as we strive for an injury free working environment in wind."

With Corio joining as a leading member of GWO, the specialist developer expects to contribute to the continuous improvement and global adoption of best practices in safety training across the offshore wind sector.

Shane Kelly, Corio's Head of Operations and Maintenance said:

"We share GWO’s commitment to standardised training for the offshore wind industry and see this as critical to continuous safety improvement and risk management.
"Being a member of GWO means we can share our expertise and global perspective in how to deliver and implement first-class training and play meaningful role in promoting and strengthening the adoption of these safety standards.

Mr Kelly represents Corio on GWO's Training Committee, bringing to the training body his 15 years' experience in project delivery and operations including 12 years in the offshore wind industry in Europe and Asia.

In addition, Rachel Porto, Corio's Head of Workplace Health, Safety, Environment and Social (WHSES), has joined GWO's General Assembly to provide her expert advice gained from more than 16 years in the renewables sector on GWO's strategy and work programmes.

"Developing and implementing safety training is fundamental to both maintaining a strong industry track record and creating pathways for skilled workers to enter the offshore wind sector," Mr Kelly added.
