Sea Survival Training Revised

Sea Survival: This Basic Safety Training (BST) module has been updated to include more practical elements

The revised Basic Safety Training Sea Survival Module has been published today, with BST Version 11 arriving after lengthy consultation with training providers and members.

Almost half (46%) of the total number of training providers certified to train the module participated in the consultation and the resulting standard reflects this feedback process.

Jakob Bjørn Nielsen, Senior Training Advisor at Global Wind Organisation, explains: "There are a range of revisions to the standard including changes to the ratio between practical and theory-based training, updates to the module's delivery and new exercises. The duration of the training has reduced to a single day, from the previous 12 hours and the practical elements have increased to 82% of the total from 68% in version 10 of the standard."
