News from the GWO Training Committee

On April 26, the GWO Training Committee met and agreed on future standards development and release of updates to the existing standards.
The GWO Training Committee recommended development of common training standards for Human Factors, Blade repair and Electrical safety. This was adopted by the Steering Committee.

Detailed Terms of Reference are being developed and work on the standards will commence in either Q4, 2017 or Q1, 2018 pending the final.

The Training Committee agreed to divide the Basic Technical Training into three separate modules allowing for greater flexibility in delivering and planning the training. Furthermore, the Committee determined to recommend a postponement of the implementation date of the BTT standard to end Q1, 2018 to allow for greater industry adoption of the revised standard.

The Committee also decided to recommend a release of the 4 updated Basic Safety Training modules in a new standard update on May, 31.

The updated Basic Technical Training standard and the Basic Safety Training standard will both be released on May 31, 2017.

To increase global compatibility, the committee will initiate a compatibility review of the existing standards with partner organizations in the US and Canada.

The GWO Secretariat will ensure that all stakeholders are updated on the upcoming standards which will be made available on globalwindsafety.org.
