CEO
Jakob became Chief Executive in 2016 after co-founding GWO. He is responsible for maintaining the association's governance structure, supporting our membership of wind power companies and driving the industry's adoption of standardised training across the globe.

Jakob Bjørn Nielsen

Chief Operating Officer
Jakob Bjørn is part of the GWO senior management team with responsibility for projects, operations, compliance, governance and risk. He previously held training leadership roles at both MHI Vestas and Siemens Windpower before joining GWO in 2017.
Ralph Savage

Director, Global Development & Stakeholder Relations
Ralph joined GWO in 2018, initially as Head of Communication. As part of the GWO senior management team he is responsible for developing and implementing strategy to encourage the adoption of GWO training standards across the global wind power industry.
José Jimenez

José Jimenez

Governance & Risk Manager
Jose has worked in wind since 2003 in a variety of HSE leadership roles with GE Renewable Energy. He joined GWO in 2019 and is responsible for internal and external governance, operational risk and business continuity.

North America Representative
Dan joined Global Wind Organisation in July 2021 following a fifteen year career with Vestas. Dan is responsible for growing our training provider network in the USA & Canada, and representing members across the region.
Dorrit Haunstrup Bregner

Dorrit Haunstrup Bregner

Quality Manager
Dorrit joined GWO in March 202 as Quality Manager. She has a background as Quality Manager at Siemens Gamesa, having worked in the wind industry since 2013, and a long career elsewhere in quality management, audits and regulatory requirements across industries.
Jan Christensen

Jan Christensen

Finance Manager
Jan has worked with GWO as an external accountant since 2014, but joined the team on a full time basis in 2022. Jan has had a long career in accounting and finances in various companies.
Thomas Grønlund

Thomas Grønlund

Senior Project Manager
Thomas manages GWO training standard review and development. Thomas had a long career in the Danish Navy, Training and Education branch, before joining GWO in August 2020. His key focus areas are pedagogical and didactic development.
Julie Brown

Julie Brown

Head of Training Development
Julie manages GWO's training standard reviews and development projects. A specialist in  stakeholder management and pedagogical tools, she previously worked in the USA and Middle East before becoming a course manager for fire inspector and management courses.
Mihaela Popa

Mihaela Popa

PMO and People & Culture Manager
Mihaela is responsible for the GWO Project Management Office function, ensuring standardised processes and tools are available across the Secretariat. She specialises in learning design, facilitation, agile project management, and community building.

Ian Buckland

Communication Manager
Ian joined GWO in 2021 and is responsible for creating and implementing GWO communication strategy. His background is in corporate social responsibility and he has worked as a sustainability consultant with many multinationals in different industries.

Nanna Falker Becker

Head of IT
Nanna joined in 2022 and her role at GWO is IT Manager. She is the product owner of WINDA, responsible for IT projects, IT Strategy and roadmap. She has a background in IT Security and Critical Infrastructure.

Senior Coordinator
Fabrizia joined GWO in February 2019. She supports all stakeholders in matters relating to GWO training and certification as part of the operations and compliance function.

Compliance Team Leader
Jannie joined in 2021 to support the secretariat’s operations and compliance function. She has been working in wind since 2018 with Vestas. Her background is in business administration both in the private and public sectors.

Anna joined GWO in January 2022 to support the Secretariat’s operations and compliance function. Her background is in public administration and academic research.

Jocelyn joined GWO in February 2020, to support the team in planning and execution of selected projects, operations and compliance, plus stakeholder relations.

Rasmus joined GWO in 2022 as IT administrator to support WINDA's operation and offer general IT support to the secretariat. His background is in software solutions with a focus on Security and Infrastructure.
Dana Cooksey

Dana Cooksey

Training Project Manager
Dana joined GWO in 2022 as an Associate Project Manager. She has a MEd from the University of Colorado Boulder in Curriculum Instruction and Design. She has ten years teaching experience and worked on a co-design team at CU Boulder to create an online Master’s program, Compassion and Dignity for Educators . Most recently she attended UC Syd International Teacher Education program to focus on didactics and pedagogy.

Event Manager
Virginia joined GWO in January 2022 to support Communications & Engagement activities. She has an MA in Cultural Studies & Communications from Roskilde University. Her background is in communications and community management within sustainable food systems.

Christopher managers GWO standard review and development. Prior to joining GWO in 2022, Christopher has been developing training standards and digital learning solutions within general aviation and healthcare. His key focus area is the development of learning cultures.

Product Owner
Torben joined in June 2023 and his role at GWO is Product Owner for WINDA and is also involved in IT Strategy and IT Security. Torben has a long career as IT professional, both in technical and managerial roles within IT Infrastructure and Cybersecurity.

Michelle joined GWO in May 2022 to support the Secretariat’s operations and compliance function. She has worked in the Wind Industry since 2011, and also has experience in public administration and the construction industry.

CRM and Email Marketing Associate Diana has a background in digital concept development and several years of experience with CRM and email marketing. She joined GWO in September 2023 to support the optimisation of digital platform use and stakeholder engagement.

Veronique has joined GWO in 2023 as the new Executive Assistant. She supports the leadership in their deliverables and is responsible for office management, coordination, reporting and logistics. Her background is in public administration where she focused on knowledge sharing projects between the public, private and academia. She has experience working in several countries including the US.

Thomas joined GWO in 2023, with 20 years’ experience in development and delivery of Safety, Emergency Response & Technical training across Europe, the Middle East, Asia & Africa. He has managed a number of Training Providers in different regions approved under GWO and within the wider offshore training sector. Thomas spent several years in the role of Approvals Auditor for Training Providers in the offshore industry globally, ensuring safety and quality of systems, resources, staff & delivery.

Peter joined GWO in February 2024 as a Training Project Manager. Coming from the IT-industry, he has extensive experience with strategic learning development, exam compliance tracking and quality management.

Maddie joined GWO in March, 2024. With a background in bilingual publications, Maddie comes to GWO from a social enterprise, where she led multicultural project teams to develop work and essential skills training for English language learners and refugees living in the United States.

Iana has a diverse academic background and a keen interest in the field of Social Sciences and Business Administration. She is currently pursuing her studies at Roskilde University. She joined GWO in 2023 to support operations, compliance and training standards development functions as a student assistant.

Helena is getting her master’s degree in International Business & Politics at Copenhagen Business School. Previously she worked 2 years for a multinational insurance broker supporting client account managers in all aspects of client administration. Helena joined GWO in August 2023 and supports the operations and compliance function of the secretariat.

Tinna is passionate about sustainability and is pursuing an MSc in Sustainable Energy at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU). She has a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iceland and joined GWO in 2023.

Erika is currently pursuing a Masters in Global Development at the University of Copenhagen. She joined GWO in September 2023 as a student assistant to support the GDSR team in social media, event production, and content creation and management.
Sara Zulin

Sara Zulin

Assistant
Sara has a keen interest in the environment and carbon management and is pursuing an MSc in Geography and Geoinformatics at Copenhagen University. Before that, she received a bachelor’s degree in Geography at the University of Liverpool where she also worked as a Sustainability Assistant. She joined the GWO team in December 2023 as a cross-functional student assistant to support People & Culture, PMO, and Quality areas.

Magnus is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business and IT (Ha. It.) at Copenhagen Business School. He joined GWO in November 2023 as an IT student assistant and helps the IT department support the entire secretariat with WINDA operations and general IT support.

Moritz, originally from Berlin, is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Copenhagen Business School. He joined GWO in November 2023 as an IT student assistant.
